This shot of the interior of the Cathedral of Immaculate Conception in Mobile, Alabama. The church opened for worship in 1850. In 1962, Pope John XXIII elevated the church to Minor Basilica. The title can only be bestowed by the pope on churches of historical and spiritual importance.
